<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte membrane having excellent dimensional stability and excellent mechanical strength, easy to handle, and capable of exerting high reliability and high performance; to provide its manufacturing method; and to provide a membrane electrode joint body for a solid polymer type fuel cell having the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. <P>SOLUTION: This solid polymer electrolyte membrane 11 has a porous sheet 13 for reinforcing the solid polymer electrolyte membrane 11 itself. The porous sheet 13 uses a porous film 15 with multiple minute pores formed as a base material, and is formed by forming multiple through-holes 17 in the porous film 15.
