A device for recording the driving capacity of a driver in a vehicle is disclosed, comprising an illumination device (1), for illuminating at least one eye of the driver, an image recording device (2), for recording an image of the illuminated eye, an analytical device (3), for analysis of the images, recorded by the image recording device and a data store (4). The device is essentially characterised in that the illumination device (1) illuminates at least one eye of the driver intermittently, or with a flash, whereby the analytical unit (3) compares the measured values for the pupil reaction of the driver, recorded by means of the image recording device (2), with at least one normal value for a pupil reaction, stored in a data store (4) and, when the measured value for the pupil reaction lies below the normal value, affects a control device (5) such that starting the vehicle or a continuation of driving the vehicle, after a operational pause of the vehicle, is prevented. |
