PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid user's misunderstanding such that an operator mistakes a special digit character of a barcode data which is not to be input by the operator for an input character, and vice versa. SOLUTION: An input character string is displayed in a first display area of a display means, and information related to the special digit character is displayed in a second display area of the display means. Here, preferably, the operator is notified that the cursor position in the first display area becomes the position of the special digit character by displaying the information related to the special digit character in the second display area, in a form different from other cursor positions.
