PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for enabling an error in an ink discharge volume to be determined without requiring an excess labor hour, in a printer equipped with a printing head unit having a plurality of nozzle trains of the same ink for discharging the same ink. SOLUTION: In an embodiment, with regard to each of the nozzle trains of the same ink, a plurality of color patches, each having a different dot recording rate from the other, are printed respectively using only one nozzle train of the same ink. Next, the color measurement value of the color patches relative to each nozzle train of the same ink, is measured and the error of the ink discharge volume of each of the nozzle trains of the same color, is determined based on the color measurement values of the color patches relative to each of the nozzle trains of the same ink. Besides, it is possible to select a pertinent color patch by comparing the color patches with a specified reference color patch and determine the error of the ink discharge volume from the dot recording rate of the pertinent color patch, instead of seeking the color measurement value.
