The invention relates to a method of monitoring the position of guiding modules for fishing gear with regard to bottom contact, comprising taking measurements of a first angle for the guiding module, calculating average and standard deviation for the angle measurements, based on the average and standard deviation, providing a position indication for the guiding module with regard to bottom contact.
