PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for toner for obtaining toner having well-balanced low-temperature fixability, offset resistance, and blocking resistance without sacrificing the durability of toner for a high-speed machine, and provide the toner obtained by using the same. SOLUTION: The resin composition for toner contains as a principal component a vinyl copolymer consisting of at least a styrene monomer and (meth)acrylate monomer as a constitution unit, wherein the vinyl copolymer consists of a low molecular-weight polymer component of 3,000 to 50,000 in weight mean molecular weight and a high molecular-weight polymer component of 100,000 to 5,000,000 in weight mean molecular weight, and the high molecular-weight polymer component has a terminal acid radical with≤C6 at a side chain in advance and dialcohol having hydroxyl at both terminals etc., is subjected to reaction with the acid radical, thereby obtaining the resin composition for toner which has an ester bond in a side chain and has a side chain whose terminal is hydroxyl.
