The spatial support structure (10) for a working unit (12) e.g. a machine tool, on a ground base plate (14), is composed of six rods (16) with their ends (18,18') attached to the tool support and base plate at force transfer points (20,20'). At least one tensioner (22) and/or stiffener is added to the structure of six rods to apply tension and/or stiffness between the tool support and base plate. The force transfer points can be a pivot axis, ball joint, universal joint, servo motor, high torque motor, hydraulic motor, and the like. |
