FIELD: processes for controlling electric arc at treating materials, possibly in different branches of industry. ^ SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of forming electric arc discharge in gap between cathode arranged in gas supply nozzle of tool for electrothermic treatment of materials and treated material; blowing electric arc discharge by gas flow with increased degree of turbulence; swirling gas flow before its ejection from gas supply nozzle of tool for electrothermic treatment.
