PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the withstand voltage of and leakage current characteristics of an electrode foil used in an electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the anode foil used in the electrolytic capacitor comprises the first anodizing step of etching an aluminum foil, forming a pseudo-boehmite film on it, and anodizing it in an anodizing liquid of boric acid until the voltage reaches a predetermined value, a depolarization treatment step of heating and/or acid-dipping it, and the second anodizing step of re-anodizing it in the anodizing liquid of boric acid until the voltage reaches a predetermined value, wherein the first and/or second anodizing steps are the steps of sequentially anodizing the foil in two or more anodizing liquids of boric acid with different concentrations while increasing the voltage to the predetermined value, the concentrations of boric acid in the liquids are in the range of 100 to 30 g/L, the concentrations in the two or more liquids with the different concentrations are sequentially lowered, and the anodizing step while increasing the voltage to the predetermined value consists of two or more stages.
