METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING AUDIO DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio data converting method in which audio input data compressed in specified format can speedily be converted into audio output data compressed in another format by using additional information of right and left channels.

SOLUTION: The audio data converting method comprises a stage (10) of finding the additional information from the audio input data, a stage (12) of performing lossless decoding audio input data in accordance with a format in which the audio input data is compressed and generating lossless decoded results as quantized data, a stage (14) of lossless coding the lossless decoded results in accordance with a format in which audio output data is to be compressed, and a stage (16) of generating the audio output data by combining the lossless coded results and found additional information together.
