<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an information amount required for inquiry of a monitor to a device when a failure or the like occurs in the device. <P>SOLUTION: When a monitoring server 200 receives a trap of the effect that an error such as a paper jam occurs from a printer 300, the monitoring server 200 decides whether related information related to the trap is cached in a cache area 267 or not. When it is cached, the related information is acquired from the cache. When it is not cached, polling is performed to the printer 300 to acquire the related information. Thereby, because the monitoring server 200 can reduce information inquired to the printer by using the cache, increase of network traffic accompanying a monitoring process can be suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
