PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium agitation type crusher performing stable operation and providing stable quality of product. SOLUTION: In this medium agitation type crusher 1, an agitation medium 68 and a treatment object are filled in a crusher tank 2, an agitation member 50 in the crusher tank 2 is rotated, the treatment object is crushed, compacted and diffused, to produce an intermetallic compound. The agitation member 50 is composed of upper agitator blades 63 and lower agitator blades 56 rotatable at different speeds in a mutually reverse direction. The upper agitator blades 63 are of a two-stage structure of upper and lower blades. The lower blades 56 are rotated at a low speed, and the upper blades 63 are rotated at a high speed, thereby crushing, compacting, diffusing and abrading the treatment object without causing sticking of the treatment object to an inner wall of the crusher tank 2, to obtain a satisfactory intermetallic compound.
