<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic norbornene-based resin sheet having small birefringence, i.e., optical phase difference and deflection width of a molecular optical main axis, and also an optical recording material/liquid crystal-displaying material by using the sheet. <P>SOLUTION: This norbornene-based resin sheet produced by a melt-extrusion method and having ≥25 μm and ≤500 μm thickness is provided by having 0.00001-0.00015 plane birefringence in a plane and aligning the optical main axis of the molecule within +10° to -10° against its width direction by regulating the temperature of a cooling roll and the speed ratios among the rolls.
