The port or cradle 503 can be fixed into the wall 600 of the furnace 601 by creating an aperture 602 of an appropriate size and by utilising usual refractory techniques to fix the port in the aperture The electromagnetic induction apparatus 501 is connected to said end wall 502 by any appropriate means and, in use, acts to create circulation of molten metal in the furnace in a vertical plane.
