<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar display which realizes shortening of observation distance, while maintaining selectivity with respect to 2D and 3D videos, and whose thickness is reduced and whose power consumption or light loss is restrained. <P>SOLUTION: The display for 2D/3D includes a video display panel, and a light source to selectively radiate light for displaying a two-dimensional video and light for displaying a three-dimensional video to the video display panel. The video display panel is, for example, a liquid crystal panel.
