PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new terpene resin having a property which has excellent compatibility with a highly polar polymer and an excellent improved modification effect. SOLUTION: The new terpene resin is obtained by reacting (A) a terpene monomer and (B) a coumarone monomer, (A) a terpene monomer, (B) a coumarone monomer and (C) a styrene monomer, or (A) a terpene monomer, (B) a coumarone monomer and (D) a phenol monomer as essential components in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts polymerization catalyst.
