PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protease having a higher degradation activity for skin desmosome than that for skin keratin and to provide a skin detergent composition comprising the protease. SOLUTION: The protease has the higher degradation activity for the skin desmosome than that for the skin keratin. The protease has (i) 1:(2-3):(6-7):(8-9) ratio of degradation activity values for synthetic substrates Ala-Ala-Ala, Ala-Pro-Ala, Ala-Ala-Pro-Phe and Ala-Ala-Pro-Leu at 30°C for 1 min and (ii) 6-9 degradation activity value for the synthetic substrate Ala-Ala-Ala at 30°C for 1 min when the degradation activity value for casein at 30°C for 1 min is 1.
