<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally set illumination time in a system constituted by combining a camera device, an illumination device and an information reader. <P>SOLUTION: A decoder of an information reading system detects shutter time TS set in a CCD camera on the basis of a control signal transmitted and received between the decoder and the CCD camera for imaging a QR code in a state of being fixedly arranged on a production line (steps S1-S4), and determines illumination time TLn of 16 stages with the shutter time as an upper limit (step S5). The QR code read when making an LED lighting system perform illumination in the respective illumination times TLN, is respectively decoded (steps S7-S12).
