PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus and a liquid ejection apparatus capable of keeping drive motors to a minimum to drive a plurality of device members associated with the recording of a recording medium. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is equipped with a plurality of members 50, 156, 164 and 170 for recording on the recording medium and is driven by switching the connection of a single motor 175. The plurality of members constitute a first roller for pinching and transporting the recording medium and a first follower roller, a feeding member having a second roller for pinching and transporting the recording medium transported from the first roller to a recording part and a second follower roller, a gap adjustment member and a discharge member which discharges the recorded recording medium. The gap adjustment member adjusts the gap between the recording head mounted on a carriage free to move and a record transporter arranged in opposite to the recording head. Thereby, the power consumption of the recording apparatus can be suppressed, and the downsizing of the apparatus can be attained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
