摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alignment layer useful for production of an optical compensated sheet which contributes to improvement in the viewing angle of an IPS type liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The alignment layer contains a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer and an inorganic salt, a salt obtained by neutralizing an inorganic acid or a salt obtained by neutralizing an organic acid, more preferably, a compound expressed by general Formula I: MX (in the general Formula I, M represents metallic ions from group 1 up to group 15 or ions expressed by general Formula II (in the general Formula II, R<SP>11</SP>, R<SP>12</SP>, R<SP>13</SP>and R<SP>14</SP>respectively represent hydrogen atoms, aliphatic groups, aromatic groups or heterocyclic groups, at least one among R<SP>11</SP>, R<SP>12</SP>, R<SP>13</SP>and R<SP>14</SP>being a hydrogen atom), and X represents an anion). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
