ALIGNMENT LAYER, OPTICAL COMPENSATED SHEET, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alignment layer useful for production of an optical compensated sheet which contributes to improvement in the viewing angle of an IPS type liquid crystal display.

SOLUTION: The alignment layer contains a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer and an inorganic salt, a salt obtained by neutralizing an inorganic acid or a salt obtained by neutralizing an organic acid, more preferably, a compound expressed by general Formula I: MX (in the general Formula I, M represents metallic ions from group 1 up to group 15 or ions expressed by general Formula II (in the general Formula II, R11, R12, R13and R14respectively represent hydrogen atoms, aliphatic groups, aromatic groups or heterocyclic groups, at least one among R11, R12, R13and R14being a hydrogen atom), and X represents an anion).
