The four-lobed rotor of a four-stroke rotary internal combustion engine rotates eccentrically within a five-lobed stator on a crankshaft 25 and is cooled by oil flowing between the peripheral walls 24, 24<SP>1</SP> connected to the hub 33 of the rotor by two radial arms 38, 39 each having two passages so that, as in Fig. 2, oil flows in two paths, each passing from the hub, round two lobes of the rotor, and back to the hub. Since in a four-stroke engine of this type two lobes perform all the compression strokes, these two lobes, 11 and 13, receive the oil first.</p> |
