PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic which can sustain effects such as gloss and moisture for long periods and can approximately uniformly be coated on hair, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic contains a cosmetic material comprising an oil material solid at the ordinary temperature and a water-soluble organic solvent as main components, and is dissolvable or dispersible in water. Since the water-soluble organic solvent is mixed with the cosmetic material used as the main component of the hair cosmetic, the hair cosmetic containing the oil material solid at the ordinary temperature can be dissolved or dispersed in water. Since the water-soluble organic solvent is strongly fixed to the hair by the adhesive force of the solid oil material, the water-soluble organic solvent as a humectant is hardly released to keep the effects such as gloss and moisture for long periods.
