摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate influence of variation of acceleration/speed reduction response property of a vehicle by gradient of a road surface and to realize following traveling maintaining an appropriate inter-vehicle distance with a preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: When the preceding vehicle can be appropriately captured on an own vehicle traveling lane, a target vehicle speed is calculated by an operation value based on the appropriate inter-vehicle distance with the preceding vehicle (S108) and whether or not gradient determination that the present traveling road for the own vehicle is an upslope or a downslope is performed is investigated (S109). Then, when the determination of the downslope or the upslope is performed, the target vehicle speed is corrected in response to the degree of the gradient (S110). Thereby, an instruction value of the vehicle speed and actual speed are appropriately adjusted in response to the gradient of the road surface, the appropriate inter-vehicle distance with the preceding vehicle is retained and stable following traveling can be realized.
