PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently excavate a pit, a bent tunnel part bent from the bottom part of the pit, and an adit continued from the bent tunnel part by one tunnel boring machine. SOLUTION: A main beam on which a rear body part with rear grippers is slidably disposed is detachably connected to a boring machine body excavating at a low speed while pressing front grippers on an excavated wall surface by the extension of a tilted jack for propelling. The rear grippers are connected to the boring machine body through the jack for propelling, and the jack for propelling is extended to excavate a long tunnel such as a pit at a high speed. When the bent tunnel part is excavated in a direction perpendicular to the tunnel, the main beam is separated, and the tunnel part is excavated while rotating the boring machine body about a set of front grippers parallel with each other.
