PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin for a biochip substrate which shows a small background noise and a large S/N ratio when used as a fluorescence detection-type biochip on which biomolecules, or the like are fixed and cross-reacted and enables easy transfer of a fine shape onto its surface, and the biochip substrate. SOLUTION: The resin for the biochip substrate comprises a polyester wherein, as constituents of the polyester, a dicarboxylic acid component essentially comprises an alicyclic dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component essentially comprises an alicyclic diol component. Alternatively, the resin for the biochip substrate comprises the polyester and one or more other thermoplastic resins and/or thermoplastic elastomers.
