A drive unit (108) drives a movable throttle plate (102). An electronic controller (106), which controls the drive unit and monitors throttle plate position, checks whether the throttle plate is rotatable to a mechanical stop when a vehicle is initially turned on. A potentiometer sensor (113) is arranged in an electronic throttle body control system (100) to detect the position of throttle plate. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle throttle plate control method.
