PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system having excellent productivity at low cost, and having a circuit device easy to be installed in a device main body for fixation. SOLUTION: The lighting system is provided in a luminaire, which is provided with a box-like luminaire main body and a discharge lamp fitted to the luminaire main body, to control the discharge lamp. The lighting system is provided with a ballast (circuit device) 60 formed of a circuit substrate 600 placed on a bottom surface inside the luminaire main body so that both ends thereof follow both side surfaces inside the luminaire main body and a mounting part 601 mounted inside the circuit board 600, while separating from both side surfaces inside the luminaire main body, is provided. An insulating cover 61 interposed between both the side surfaces of the luminaire main body and the ballast 60 to surround the ballast 60 is provided. The insulating cover 61 is structured so that dimension of a top surface part 61b is shorter than dimension of a bottom surface part 61b in a direction between both the side surfaces of the luminaire main body.
