PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP with high image quality restrained from deterioration in a passage of time, maintaining high light emission efficiency even in long termed operation, stable in a passage of time. SOLUTION: A front panel 10 and a back panel 20 of the PDP 1 are arranged so as to face each other and sealed to form a discharge space 30 between them. A blue color phosphor layer 25B of the back panel 20 is composed of alkali earth metal aluminate phosphor, and a discharge gas composed of Ne-Xe (Xe: 10 to 30 vol.%) as main component, containing minute quantity (partial pressure of 0.05 Pa to 0.5 Pa) of O<SB>2</SB>is sealed in the discharge space 30 with a prescribed pressure (for example, in a level of 6.7×10<SP>4</SP>to 1.0×10<SP>5</SP>Pa).
