PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ozone generator in which the occurrence of spark or smoke is prevented even when a short circuit state is generated by the stain on an electrode or the like. SOLUTION: The ozone generator has a high voltage generation circuit 16 receiving current supply from an AC/DC converter 14 and applying a direct current high voltage between a first electrode 18 and a second electrode 20, generates corona discharge between the first electrode 18 and the second electrode 20 by the application of the direct current high voltage to generate ions and ozone, wherein a control circuit 10 for detecting that an overcurrent state different from a normal discharge state is generated between the first electrode 18 and the second electrode 20 and for blocking the electric power supply from a driving power source is provided between the driving power source and the high voltage generation circuit 16.
