PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance correcting device for allowing even an operator without knowledge and experience concerning a complicated luminance smoothing processing to easily obtain a desired image processing result. SOLUTION: The luminance correcting device 1 comprises: a variable number storage part 13 for storing a plurality of variable number sets with the combination of a plurality of variable numbers to be used for a multi-scale retinex processing; an operation part 14 for receiving indication information concerning the variable number sets; and a variable number selecting part 15 for selecting the variable number set corresponding to the indication information, which is received by the operation part 14, among the variable number sets stored in the variable storage part 13. A multi-scale retinex processing part 16 performs the multi-scale retinex processing through the use of the variable number set which is selected by the variable number selecting part 15.
