<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add advertisement information to a medium such as DVD distributed at present and reproduce the advertisement information while utilizing the medium when the medium is played back. <P>SOLUTION: A medium ID corresponding to a package medium M which is allowed to reproduce advertisement information when a user U purchases the medium M, is recorded on an ID card C. When playing back the medium M, a medium playing back apparatus MP-k acquires the medium ID from the ID card C, determines based on the medium ID whether the advertisement information can be reproduced, and reproduces the advertisement information acquired from a control server CS while playing back the package medium M if it is judged as allowed. Even if the user U allows to insert and reproduce the advertisement information when the package medium M is purchased, however, the user U sometimes desires to prohibit reproduction of the advertisement information in the reproduction occasionally.
