PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform data transfer or data duplication between a plurality of storage systems, without affecting the computer of higher order of a storage system. SOLUTION: Two or more sub-storage systems 100B and 100C are connected to a main storage system 100A connected to a device 180 of higher order. The sub-storage systems 100B and 100C read data-updated journals from the main storage system 100A in their unique timings, and stores them into predetermined logical volumes JNL2 and JNL3 and generates the duplication of the data in the main storage system 100A, based on the journals in the logical volumes JNL2 and JNL3 with their unique timings, and stores them into sub-logical volumes COPY1 and COPY3. The main storage system 100A stores the journals until both sub-storage systems 100B and 100C read and restore the journals.
