A coffee pot 2 has a filter bag 1 suspended therein by a collar 3 and a polygonal plate 4 secured to a spindle 5 provided with a knob 6 enables the bag to be twisted to increase the speed of filtering by rotation of knob 6 after ground coffee and boiling water have been placed in the bag. The fabric bag (Fig. 4) has a lower area 11 of very porous fabric, a medial area 12 slightly porous and ports 13 or an area of high permeability to allow excess water to flow out. In a modification Fig. 5 a rod 5 slides in a tube 5<SP>1</SP> and members 16, 17 connected by yielding members 14 are secured to the tube and rod respectively the rod being caused to slide against a spring 15 to move members 16, 17 apart to reduce the diameter of the device for insertion into the bag. In a further modification Fig. 7 member 4 is replaced by a tube 19 of plastic having slots 20.</p> |
