CATALYST AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING VAPOR-GROWTH CARBON MATERIAL AND VAPOR-GROWTH CARBON MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst and a method for manufacturing a vapor-growth carbon material, by each of which the slender carbon material having≤100 nm average diameter can be manufactured by using inexpensive carbon monoxide as a raw material and simple equipment preventing mingling of a coarse carbon material having≥200 nm diameter in the manufactured slender carbon material. SOLUTION: This catalyst is obtained by drying a co-precipitate containing iron and cobalt. The cobalt content of this catalyst is adjusted to 60-90 mol% of the total content of cobalt and iron of this catalyst. The carbon material is manufactured by bringing this catalyst into contact with gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide in a heated state at 450-650°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
