PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus and an inkjet recording method, which enable a dot to be complemented by using another nozzle in place of a defective-ejection nozzle, while speeding up recording. SOLUTION: The dots on the same raster are formed of ink, which is ejected from the different nozzles, by the single scanning of a recording head in accordance with recording data through the use of the recording head capable of ejecting the ink from the nozzles. For that purpose, the recording data are distributed to the nozzles. Additionally, the recording data, which are distributed to the defective-ejection nozzle under the state of defective ink ejection, are distributed to another complementary nozzle. The complementary nozzle can form the complementary dot on an adjacent raster adjacent to a raster, where the dot formed by the defective-ejection nozzle is positioned, in at least either of upward and downward directions.
