PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for a sliding door capable of obtaining a deceleration motion proportional to the speed of a door body on closing the door and slowly closing the door to the final without stopping as it is, and even when in case it stops in the middle the rest is smoothly closed and further it can be opened by a light operation from the closed state. SOLUTION: An oscillating member having a deceleration member and a protruding part, constituted so as to act a certain load when a gear rotates is provided and the oscillating member is assembled with a main body case by a rotary shaft to constitute the main body device. Then, a receive device having a receive case provided with a contact member with the end by a long member and continuous rack is provided. The braking device is charged dividedly so that the main body device and the receive device confront mutually. When the door body is closed, the contact member gets into contact with the protruded part and the gear is engaged with the rack to decelellate the speed of the door body and further, in a stage decelellated to a specified speed, when a release means by which the gear separates from the rack is provided, the door body slowly closes perfectly.
