PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device capable of sufficiently holding a recording medium while recording an image, and suppressing disturbance of the image. SOLUTION: The image recording device 1 comprises an image recording means capable of recording an image over the entire width of a recording medium without performing the scanning in the width direction of the recording medium, a recording medium transport means which sucks and holds the recording medium and transports the recording medium in the recording medium transport direction, a discharge means to transport the recording medium at the recording medium transport speed higher than the recording medium transport speed of the recording medium transport means, and a control unit to control the drive of the image recording means and the recording medium transport means. The recording medium transport means has an endless transport belt having a plurality of suction holes in the surface thereof which transports the recording medium in a sucked condition to the surface thereof via the suction holes and a suction means. The suction force of the suction means when a part of the recording medium reaches the discharge means and the image is recorded on the recording medium is set to be larger than the recording medium transport force of the discharge means.
