Treatment for fabrics

A method of conferring one or more benefits during the laundering of textile fabrics is disclosed. The method includes contacting the fabric with a modified naturally occurring polysaccharide gum having beta1-4 linkages, and a weight average molecular weight of 250,000 or less.
