PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver for improving the initial response of screen display after a power switch is turned on or a received channel is switched. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver is provided with: first decoding means (4a, 5a) for decoding broadcast data included in a first segment group (B1 to B6, and B8 to B13) from a plurality of received segments; and second decoding means (4b, 5b) for decoding broadcast data included in a second segment (B7), and carries out decoding processing by the first decode means and decoding processing by the second decode means for a plurality of the segments corresponding to an optional channel at the same time when start of the reception of the optional channel is instructed resulting that a display means (7) preferentially displays an image whose video information is earlier generated.
