PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a circuit breaker to be safely operated by securing a required insulation distance for a switch cover for a breaking characteristic changeover switch mounted on the breaker without changing a breaker case and an internal assembly structure. SOLUTION: This circuit breaker is so structured that the changeover switches 5 and 6 for changing over a breaking operation characteristic are mounted; switch covers 8 with operation knobs 8a are overlaid on the switches; and then the operation knobs are faced to operation window holes of the breaker case to allow them to be manually changed over. An extension part 8b laterally extended is formed on each switch cover; the operation knob is formed on it; the required insulation distance from the changeover switch body is secured; specifically, a slide switch is used as each changeover switch; the switches are mounted and connected to a wiring flexible board 7 connected to an electronic control circuit; the shape of the each switch cover is formed into a flat L-shaped form, the operation knob is formed at a tip of its extension part, and thereafter it is disposed on a trip coil unit 4; and a guide slot 8d formed on the back face of each switch cover is fitted to a projecting guide rail 4a formed on the side of a unit case, and slidably guided and supported.
