PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train approach warning method and a train approach warning system capable of grasping the position of a maintenance worker carrying a maintenance worker terminal in a tunnel, issuing a most appropriate warning about train approach to the maintenance worker, and enhancing the safety for maintenance work in the tunnel. SOLUTION: The maintenance worker terminal 106, a plurality of wireless LAN access points 105, and a central system 104 are provided. The central system 104 includes a means for obtaining train position information from a train 10 approaching into the tunnel 12 and specifying the position of the train 10, a means for specifying the positional information of the maintenance worker terminal 106 based on the access information of the terminal 106 to the wireless LAN access points 105, a means for computing arrival time until the train 10 arrives at the maintenance worker 11, and a means for transmitting warning information about the train approach to the maintenance worker terminal 106 base on the arrival time information.
