PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noncontact magnetostrictive torque sensor mountable easily on a rotating shaft without requiring processing to the rotating shaft, capable of suppressing generation of an unnecessary inductance of a detection coil, performing easily stable and accurate zero-point adjustment of a circuit of the detection coil by assembling a bridge circuit of the detection coil without requiring an external circuit, and detecting easily and accurately a torque applied to the magnetostrictive rotating shaft by reducing zero-point fluctuation of an output signal resulting from rotation of the rotating shaft. SOLUTION: This magnetostrictive torque sensor is constituted of the rotating shaft 1 having a magnetostrictive characteristic, and two semicylindrical ferrite magnetic cores 3, 3 formed by winding a coil 2 tilted at +45°and a coil 4 tilted at -45°with respect to the axis O of the rotating shaft 1 in piles on the inner surface. The two semicylindrical ferrite magnetic cores 3, 3 are closely and oppositely arranged close concentrically with the magnetostrictive rotating shaft 1 on the plane vertical to the axis O of the magnetostrictive rotating shaft 1.
