PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce a crystalline carbon nanofiber having good mechanical, electric and thermal properties to enable structural control. SOLUTION: The method for producing the carbon nanofiber comprises (A) a step for preparation of a polymer blend by disperse of an aromatic mesophase as a carbon precursor polymer into a matrix polymer, (B) a step for carrying out melt spinning of the polymer blend, (C) a step for carrying out insolubilizing treatment of a spun fiber, (D) a step for carrying out carbonization heating and (E) a step for carrying out graphitization treatment.
