摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device by which manufacturing costs can easily be suppressed and in which double-refraction characteristics are less affected by heat. <P>SOLUTION: In manufacturing the optical device having a light transmissive base material and a first double-refraction layer formed thereon, a vertical alignment film is formed onto the base material by using a surfactant which has a long chain alkyl group, and then, on the vertical alignment film, a first double-refraction layer is formed that has a structure in which polymerizable liquid crystal molecules having a rod-like molecular shape are three-dimensionally cross-linked while maintaining homeotropic alignment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
