PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic control device for a belt type continuously variable transmission, in which quick deceleration of the belt type continuously variable transmission can be restricted. SOLUTION: This hydraulic control device for a belt type continuously variable transmission comprises a first hydraulic chamber 135 and a second hydraulic chamber 138 to control a first pulley 24 and a second pulley 25, a first pulley control valve 97 to control hydraulic oil of the first hydraulic chamber 135, a second pulley control valve 98 to control hydraulic oil of the second hydraulic chamber 138, and a change-over valve 125 to control the state of hydraulic oil in the first hydraulic chamber 135 in accordance with generation of a failure. It is provided with hydraulic oil supply passages 139, 143, 144, and 145 having a function of supplying hydraulic oil in a first oil pump 86 to the first hydraulic chamber 135, and a function of supplying hydraulic oil of a second oil pump 87 driven by a motor to the first hydraulic chamber 138 in accordance with action of the change-over valve 125 in a case where such a failure that the hydraulic pressure supplied to the hydraulic chamber 138 becomes the maximum is generated.
