PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welded portion constitution and a welding method capable of enhancing the strength of a joined portion of cylindrical members without increasing the thickness of the cylindrical members. SOLUTION: In a welded portion constitution between cylindrical members 33 and 38, a cylindrical strap 39 is inserted inside a butted portion. A contact portion 1 in contact with the strap 1, an inclined portion 3 formed continuous to the contact portion 1 and inclined in the direction separating from the strap 39 with respect to the contact 1, and a stepped portion 4 which is formed continuous to the inclined portion 3 and disposed with a predetermined spacing from the strap 39 are provided on at least one end of the cylindrical members 33 and 38.
