<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily set a printing attribute when a file is input to a print job storage box in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A printing attribute for direct printing is set to each of the print job storage boxes (numbers 00, 02-04) 307, 308-311. When the direct printing is performed, a list of the files stored in external devices 102-104 is displayed to allow a user to select a desired file, and direct printing screens 901, 1101 are displayed to allow the user to select a desired print job storage box (the number 04) 311.
