<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a PPML template from a PDF document. <P>SOLUTION: A system (200) and method (1200) of operation is configured to produce the PPML template (204) from the PDF document (202). In one implementation, the system (200) opens the PDF document (202) and converts PDF elements (208, 210) within the PDF document (202) into variable objects (212). A macro (220) is generated, which contains rules (222) governing use and reuse of the variable objects (212).
