PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the battery life of a meter unit of a battery drive in an automatic-meter-reading (AMR) system. SOLUTION: The meter unit receives a RF signal transmitted from a measuring device, detects specified non-standard data speed and determines whether it is in agreement with the set proper data speed. If in agreement, the meter unit is activated and starts communication, if not, it is set in a sleep state. Since detection of bit or frame synchronization is not needed, high-speed processing is possible and a battery life can be elongated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
