PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite magnetic head by which the S/N ratio of a reading signal of a servo signal is improved, and quality deterioration of a data signal to be recorded on a data band is avoided. SOLUTION: This composite magnetic head is equipped with a DC erase head 10 for carrying out DC erase so that the magnetizing direction of a servo band is directed to one direction, a servo write head 20 for writing the servo signal into the servo band so as to face the direction opposite to the aforementioned one direction, and an AC erase head 30 for carrying out AC erase of the magnetization of the data band.
